In the race where Jesper van der Wielen qualified for the World Junior Championships in Canada (May 26, 2010), a new NGA record was set by Gideon Kipketer of Kenya in 13.15.77. The record was held by Bernard Chepkok also from Kenya who ran 13.15.84 at NGA in 2004 (NGA record ).
